Ground Floor Deck for Second Home on Anita

We just completed this deck replacement in South Lake Tahoe.

Our client wanted to replace a deteriorating front deck to increase usability and curb appeal. Here’s how we did it:

We removed the existing deck and piers and started from the ground up. We installed all new concrete piers and BMP drain rock underneath the deck before starting to piece the new deck together.  We designed the deck using 6 x 8 beams to allow the 2 x 8 joists to hang from the beams and work with the existing height of the front door.  This design left us just over the needed 6 inches of ground clearance to the framing.

We pre-painted all the framing material and painted all the cut ends as we installed the beams and joist.  From there we built the front stair and painted the whole deck frame one more time to provide great paint coverage for all the framing.

Once the frame was painted, we installed the Timbertech decking using the clip system to give the deck a clean unblemished look.  The last item for installation was the fascia that we pre-painted with two coats of paint and installed all the way around the deck and to the bottom of the stairs.

The final product looks great and our client is super happy with his new deck!
